One of my favorite things to do after work is go on an afternoon walk and listen to uplifting and encouraging podcasts, spend time with my family and talk about the special things that happened throughout the day. When you focus on small simple things that put a smile on your face, it makes you even more grateful for everything you have.
It is SO important to celebrate the little things. I grew up in a house where my parents were both very positive role models and I always remember my dad dropping us off at school and saying, “Make sure you put a smile on someone’s face today.” This has always stuck with me and it brings joy not only to someone else, but for me as well.
When I think about celebrating little things I think about taking our nieces and nephews to Bruster’s for their favorite treats. A family favorite has always been the Graham Central Station but with Scout’s milk allergy I have been hooked on the Diary Free Chocolate Chip.
We get together as a family every Sunday at my parents house and celebrate being healthy, happy and getting to spend time as a family since we all live close by.
I’ve also made a list of the simple things we love to celebrate:
A good nights sleep | Enjoying a sunny day spending time outdoors | Time with family | Ice cream dates at Brusters | Riding bikes on the Swamp Rabbit Trail | Sunday brunch with friends
What are the things simple things that you love to celebrate? Make a list and look at it each week and be sure to smile each time you get the chance to celebrate the little things in life.
