I have always loved to host. I come from a family who celebrates together every Sunday just because. It has been a tradition passed down for generations and when you are Italian you can find any reason to drink good wine and eat delicious food. We even named my parents house Vinnie’s Vino Palace (my dad is Vince), you know its a good time when your fun and cheerful bungalow downtown gets named a Vino Palace. My parents house is one of my favorite places to be, it brings me joy that everyone is together and the wine is flowing and laughter can be heard from about a mile away. Since they host the entire family weekly I decided it was my turn to host. To treat the rest of the family to good eats and drinks so they can relax without having to do any work. I thought Mother’s Day was the perfect time to do so.
I started brainstorming everything that made me happy and how we could celebrate to make sure that everyone had a blast (it’s hard to compete with the Vino Palace). So first I decided I had to have my favorite bubbles and wine, I mean in my family it’s not a party without the grapes. So, I reached out to my favorite bubble makers, J Vineyards and Winery. My twin sister, Stephe & I received our first bottle of their Brut Rosé from our Aunt and Uncle on our birthday back in April and have been in love with their wines ever since! When they contacted me back and said they wanted to be a part of the Mother’s Day brunch party I was super pumped. And to say they were kind would be an understatement, their customer service is absolutely amazing, which is hard to find these days. So, it made me love their company even more! If you are ever in the Russian River Valley area I have heard that the J Bubble Room is a spot that you don’t want to miss.
Next, I contacted my favorite local event planner, who I call an angel. Kelly Ford from Ford Studio of Designs is one of the most talented and sweetest people I have ever met. She can literally turn anything into gold, I’m convinced she is an angel and I’m not even kidding. I knew I needed her help with the party. She knows how to make everything look amazing and has always helped us at the store for our events so I knew it would be stress free if I had her by my side. The girl can throw a party together like no other!
And the food, you can’t drink bubbles and grapes without food so I reached out to the best sugar artist around, Jonathan Caleb who is famous for his macarons and beautiful cakes. I knew that I wouldn’t even have to tell him what I wanted and that he could whip up a killer dessert for the occasion, and that he did! He showed up with 2 vases full of blooms and a beautiful strawberry cake filled with fresh whipped cream filling and covered in bourbon vanilla Italian meringue buttercream. He topped it off with a white chocolate ganache drip, peonies, fresh strawberries and his all time favorite topping, Sweetapolita Sprinkles.
When I noticed that he had a pretty platter of shell shaped cookies I knew that they had to be the Lemon Madeleines he had mentioned last weekend. I was so excited to try these as I have never had one before. Apparently they are amazing dipped in coffee or tea but I paired mine with a delicious glass of J Wine Cuvée 20 and it was to die for. He tops his with a citrus glaze that gives it the final touch.
Once you try Jonathan Caleb’s sweet treats you wont ever go back! They are literally the best I have ever had and so convenient when you need a gorgeous dessert for any celebration!
So, for Mother’s Day I want to give my mom the best day she could ever have! I can’t explain how wonderful my mom is. Luckily for me she is fun, witty and the most loving person I have ever met. When your mom is not only your best friend but the person that you run to when something exciting happens in your life you know you have it good. Hopefully, one day I will be as amazing of a mother as she has been to my sisters and I!
A huge thanks to J Winery, Ford Studio Design, Jonathan Caleb Cakes and Emily Bolt Photography for making this party come together so beautifully!
