“Everyday you have two choices: continue to sleep with your dreams or wake up and chase them.”
Good morning! Whatever you do, don’t hit snooze, because I’m writing this blog post to help with ideas for you to get moving and motivated in the mornings! I’ve had a few of you ask how I wake up at 4AM each morning and get motivated to get up and get going. So, today I am sharing simple steps in my routine that help me set my priorities for each day.
First and foremost, I NEVER hit snooze. I set my alarm on weekdays for 4AM so that I can get things done before I head to the office in the mornings. With a newborn, Β it’s just not possible to get much done after work, so I make sure to have my “me time” in the mornings. I make it a priority to do my workout first thing. This always makes me feel better and more alive each day. There are certainly days when I would rather sleep in, but I know that it will give me so much more energy throughout the day if I get moving first thing.
Another important thing I’ve been trying to do right after I wake up is fill my water bottle (this is the bottle I use everyday) to help with hydration throughout the day. I like that you can track your intake and it gives you a timeline on the bottle to see where you are at through the day. I recently started adding Glotrition’s delicious sweet-tart berry collagen peptides to my water to make it less boring and WAY more tasty. I love that there are so many benefits with this simple powder from Glotrition that increases skin firmness and reduces wrinkle depth and makes my water taste so yummy. I love to eat well and have meals prepped for the evening so I can get home from work and spend time with my family instead of slaving away in the kitchen. And if you follow along on my Instagram (EZ Recipes highlight), then you know I love simple recipes that don’t take up a ton of time. Each morning I either throw an easy dinner into the slow cooker or prep something to have it ready to go in the oven when I get home from the office. This saves me the stress of worrying about having to prepare and cook dinner when I get home from work.
Prepping my morning coffee helps save time in the mornings before I run out the door. The night before, I like to popΒ my Nespresso Capsule into my machine (this is the one I use and I love the simplicity of it), measure out my creamer (since I’m currently tracking macros) and have the water line filled on the machine and my mug in place for the coffee to drip! I usually run out the door with coffee in hand to enjoy once I get to my desk.
At the beginning of the week I open the “reminders” app (on my iPhone) and make a list of things that have to be done by the end of the week. I open it each morning to see what I can fit it and check off that day and make sure I tackle the list one day at a time. Prepping at the beginning of the week or the day before saves me tons of time and helps me tackle my mornings. Find a routine that works for you and makes you feel accomplished and happy and it will help you take on the day, instead of having the day take on you!
