A few days ago I was shopping at my favorite local grocery store, The Fresh Market and noticed some big changes taking place. I have always been a fan of their stores because they have more of a boutique feel and they offer a lot of unique products that I can’t find at other locals stores. The South Pleasantburg Drive location holds a special place in my heart as it is the exact location that my family started one of the first Italian Restaurants and The Greenville City Club in Greenville many years ago. The memories of sitting on bar stools with my sisters when we were younger and eating italian meatball subs while sipping shirley temples always come back as I walk through the doors of the newly renovated Fresh Market. If you drive around the building you will notice that the shopping center is named Perone Corners after my grandfather, Vince. So when I get the opportunity to grocery shop I love to go to the same spot where I grew up and fill my cart with their delicious meats, wines and cheese selections.
The new renovations that just happened last week make it so easy to shop as all of the aisles are now facing parallel to the registers. I always stop at the gorgeous flower selection (if you are lucky you can find the best peonies) right as you enter the doors then head straight to produce. I am currently loving their produce selection as they have added fresh sliced veggies. I have always been a huge fan of their pineapple & veggie kabobs because they are so easy to just throw on the grill for a quick dinner. As I make my rounds I notice that their wine and beer selection is now larger and also find a lot of new items that I never knew they carried since the aisles are so neatly organized. They now have a separate aisle for sparkling wines, reds and whites and an entire refrigerated section for beers located at the back of the store beside the bakery. I can’t pass up the butcher counter without ordering fresh fish and meats to throw on the grill for weekdays. I especially love their nova bits to pair with eggs for breakfast. Lastly I hit up the bulk section which is my favorite part of the store. It is full of nuts, snack mixes, seeds, dried fruits and those delicious banana chips that I can’t ever get enough of. I find the majority of my healthy snack items here and love that you can control the portions that you buy.
Some other new additions include their sampling stations that allow guests to try out new items and delicious recipes as well as new “Meals in Minutes” that are prepackaged fresh ingredients that allow you to bake or microwave the meal without any prep work. Perfect for after work week nights! Make sure to head over to your closest store and check out the new products, design and wonderful experience that they have to offer.
I like to sign up for the weekly specials here to be notified each week what is going on at my local store! Before I go grocery shopping I love to make my list and look up their new & featured items to know what to be on the lookout for when I arrive.
