Just this past weekend a group of my blogger girl friends and I hit the road with Land Rover for a quick 3.5 hour drive through North Carolina up to the Blue Ridge Mountains on the border of Virginia. After lots of catching up and treating ourselves to a delicious lunch we landed in Meadow of Dan, Virginia. Before this trip I had never heard of this hidden little secret called Primland Resort. When we arrived we realized it wasn’t so little, it was a magical place tucked away on 12,000 acres.
Driving up the gorgeous winding mountains we stopped (snow flurries and all) for a few scenic views and then hopped right back in to hit or final destination. Once we arrived at the cedar and stone Lodge it was like we had found our winter wonderland. The hospitality was by far the best I have ever experienced, from the time we pulled up to the time we said our goodbyes I was amazed at the service we received while there.
We headed straight to the 19th Pub as soon as our bags were delivered to our rooms. The Pub was a regular stop during the trip, it is a cozy bar and lunch spot in The Lodge right on the golf course. Our sweet bartender, Michelle poured me a glass of the delicious Penny Wise Cabernet and placed a side of fresh sweet potato chips right in front of us. We indulged! It was the perfect spot to wind down after our drive in.

We settled into our amazing cabin in The Lodge, it was unlike any room I have ever experienced before. As you walk in you can already see the view of the mountains across the room. The light cedar surrounding the room gives off a cozy feel and the bathroom opens up to the bedroom where you can enjoy a warm bath while getting a fabulous view of the mountains across the property. The large bed of white linens was the coziest. I could’ve lived in the room for days but with some many amazing things on our agenda that wasn’t happening this time around.
We headed down to our first dinner at Elements Restaurant. The two story wine room that sits across from the restaurant entrance stopped me in my tracks. I knew then that it was going to be a weekend full of delicious foods and wines. Karl, our sommelier, certainly knows his stuff. I loved the wines he paired with each dish so much that I got on the computer the next morning and ordered them so that they would be at my doorstep when I arrived back home from the trip. Stenson, our server was our new bestie. His smile was contagious and by the end of our first dinner we knew we had to have him for the Chef’s Table for night two.
The weekend was full of activities from a morning spent in the Spa, touring of the property on ATV’s to ending the day with Archery followed by another trip to the 19th Pub for a quick cocktail. We ended our last night there with smores by the bonfire and a night of star gazing in the observatory.

We had a lazy Sunday morning at the Tree Houses that overlooked Kibler Valley before heading home. We lounged around in our cozy KIP Sleepwear all weekend long. These night shirts are a new favorite. The fit is perfectly tailored with side slits to easily move around in. The silky ivory piping and monogram detailing remind me of pajamas I had when I was younger.
A huge thanks to Barbour for keeping us warm all weekend long! Outdoor activities, snow flurries and all, this Classic Beadnell Wax Jacket did the trick!
We couldn’t have made the trip without Barrington Gifts. The Belmont Cabin Bag was the perfect size for a quick road trip and fit everything from my make up and necessities to my Hunter Boots.
It was the best trip ever. I am counting down the days until our next stay at the beautiful Primland Resort. A huge thank you to everyone who made our trip so enjoyable. We cannot thank you enough for the outstanding hospitality and hope to see you again soon! Kayaking and fly fishing here we come.
Until next time, Primland!
